L-series quality The EF 85mm f/1.2L USM II lens meets Canon’s highest standards for precision optics. The L-series is Canon’s flagship EF professional lens range, combining outstanding optical performance and functionality with a dust- and moisture-resistant construction. Large f/1.2 aperture The f/1.2 maximum aperture enables high speeds when shooting in low light without the need for a flash. This very large aperture also allows for precise control over depth of field for portrait photography. Excellent background blur The circular aperture creates a beautiful, smooth background blur when isolating subjects at wide open aperture. Fast, silent autofocus The ring-shaped Ultrasonic Motor (USM) uses ultrasonic vibrations to drive extremely fast autofocus with near-silent operation. A fast processor and optimized AF algorithms further accelerate autofocus. In addition, this high-torque AF motor stops the focusing lens group without inertia or hesitation. Full-time manual focus override is possible in autofocus. Super Spectra Coating The Super Spectra Coating and optimized lens shape eliminate the risk of flare and ghosting that can occur with digital cameras due to reflections potentially reflected off the sensor. The coating also provides natural color balance and increases contrast for vibrant, true-to-life images. Distance Information Transmits to E-TTL II The lens transmits camera-to-subject distance information to the camera’s E-TTL II flash system to ensure optimum flash exposure metering in all shooting situations.
